Georg I. Göler of Ravensburg

Georg I. Göler von Ravensburg (* 1440 ; † June 5, 1502 ) comes from the Göler von Ravensburg family , an old Kraichgau noble family that belonged to the Swabian Imperial Knighthood and whose ancestral seat, the Ravensburg , is near Sulzfeld in Baden-Württemberg. He was Vogt in Bretten from 1480 to 1500 .

Georg I was the second son of Martin Göler von Ravensburg (1408–1465), former canon of Speyer , and Anna von Hirschberg . He was married to Anna Kalb von Reinheim . From this marriage there were four sons and five daughters:

Life

In 1462 Georg I fought in the Battle of Seckenheim on the side of the victorious Elector Friedrich I of the Palatinate . His brother Albrecht V. Göler von Ravensburg fought on the side of the defeated Duke Ulrich V. von Württemberg . Georg was Vogt of Bretten from 1480 to 1500 , an office reserved for the regional nobility. In 1486 Georg I and his brother Albrecht V built a chapel at the foot of the Ravensburg near the Seemühle.

As a member of the knight's society with the donkey , he can be proven at the following tournaments : 1479 in Würzburg , 1481 in Heidelberg and 1487 in Worms .

His grave slab , with a coat of arms in high relief , is on the Protestant church in Sulzfeld.
