Friedrich Albrecht Ludwig Ferdinand Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (* May 12, 1777 in Berleburg ; † November 11, 1851 ibid) was the last ruling prince in the Principality of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and then a registrar .

Life

Albrecht zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg was a member of the noble family of the Prince Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg . His parents were Christian Heinrich zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (1753-1800) , who was prince in 1792, and Countess Charlotte Friederike Franziska von Leiningen-Westerburg-Grünstadt (1759-1831). Franz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and August Ludwig zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg were his younger brothers. Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, who was a Protestant denomination, married Christiane Charlotte Wilhelmine Countess zu Ortenburg. Their son Albrecht (1834–1904) succeeded him as a registrar. He was also the father of the sons Gustav and Carl .

After the death of his father, he became the eldest son of the ruling prince in 1800. In 1806 the principality was mediatized due to the Rhine Confederation and annexed to the Grand Duchy of Hesse before it became part of Prussia in 1816 due to the agreements of the Congress of Vienna as part of an area swap . This ended his reign in 1806. In the Kingdom of Prussia he became a registrar. Associated with this were a number of privileges, including a virile vote at the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia . Accordingly, he was a member of the Provincial Parliament from 1826 to 1845 and of the first and 1848 of the second United State Parliament . As a registrar he was allowed to be represented there. So he was represented at the United Diet by Heinrich Friedrich von Itzenplitz .

In the tradition of his forefathers, Prince Albrecht was also an enthusiastic musician. He played several instruments and conducted the court orchestra himself. His special merit is the significant support of the composer Friedrich Kiel (1821–1885), who came from Puderbach , was initially a member of the court orchestra and later took over the musical education of the Berleburg prince children.
