Protonuraghe Albucciu
The Protonuraghe Albucciu near Arzachena ( Sassari province ) in Gallura , excavated in 1960 and 1961, is a specialty among the Sardinian nuraghi and is reminiscent of a Corsican tower . In addition to the Protonuraghe , the remains of a round hut village and about 80 m away those of a giant grave were found. Protonuraghen (also corridor or pseudonuraghen, Italian Nuraghe a corridoio ) are the pre- or early form of the classical tower structures or Tholosnuraghen ( Italian Nuraghe a tholos ) of the Bronze Age nuragic cultures of Sardinia.
The nuraghe is built on a granite rock , and its rooms, built from granite ashlars, differ in terms of their shape or arrangement both from the proto-phase complexes, the construction features of which the nuraghe exhibits in many details, and from the dome complexes , although there are also rooms with cantilever vaults shows. The access, which can be reached via two steps, seems to have been secured by a locking device, of which the traces of the abutments and the lifting device (by means of a rope) were still found. The entrance leads into an unusual, trapezoidal vestibule, from which you can continue in three directions, a principle that the Domus de Janas already show:
- Right into a domed room with an ellipsoidal niche at the head, next to which a crawlspace leads to the outside.
- On the left there is a corridor-like niche that is partly carved into the rock.
A corridor branches off at the end of the vestibule
- in the largest room, partly carved into the rock,
- into another, this time trapezoidal niche
- into the stairway that leads to the upper platform.
The remains of two round buildings lie on it.
Time position
The approximately 300 Protonuraghi on Sardinia were formed during phase B of the two-phase Bonnanaro culture , which was the successor to the both megalithic and Copper Age Monte Claro culture between 1800 and 1500 BC. Ruled.
Nearby is the giant tomb of Moru and the small temple of Malchittu .
