Alejandro Silva , full name Alejandro Daniel Silva González , (born September 4, 1989 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
The 1.78 meter tall defensive player Silva has been in the top division of Fénix since the Clausura 2010 . For the Montevideans he played 37 games in the Primera División up to and including the Clausura 2012 and scored four goals. He also came in two matches in the Liguilla Pre-Libertadores in 2009 and twice in the Copa Sudamericana . He then moved to Paraguay and joined Olimpia Asunción . There he was used in 45 league games (nine goals) and 13 games (one goal) of the Copa Libertadores and two matches of the Copa Sudamericana 2012 (no goal). At the beginning of February 2014 he moved to Argentina to join CA Lanús, trained by Guillermo Barros Schelotto . There he signed a contract until June 2017. The Argentines acquired 50 percent of the transfer rights from Olimpia. Fénix holds the other half of the rights. At CA Lanús, he played 13 league games (no goal), five games in the Copa Libertadores 2014 and one encounter with the Copa Argentina . At Apertura 2014 he switched to Club Atlético Peñarol on loan . There he played - each without a personal goal - in twelve first division games and six matches in the Copa Sudamericana 2014 . At the beginning of 2015 he returned to Lanús and played eight first division games (no goal) and one game in the Copa Argentina. In July 2015, he rejoined Olimpia Asunción. There he contributed six goals in 19 league appearances to win the 2015 national championship. He also played six times in the Copa Sudamericana 2015 and scored one goal. In 2016 he made 19 top division appearances and scored twelve goals. He was also the top scorer in five appearances in the 2016 Copa Libertadores . Since August 2016 at the latest, he has been back at CA Lanús and has played there so far (as of February 20, 2017) in 19 top division games (two goals), two cup games (no goal) and one game (no goal) of the Copa Sudamericana 2016 .
National team
Silva was part of the Uruguayan Olympic team at the Summer Olympics in London , but was only intended as one of four substitute athletes. According to the AUF , he played his only game for the Olympic selection in the run-up to the Games on April 24, 2012 against the selection of Egypt.
On March 26, 2013 he made his debut in the senior national team of Uruguay when he replaced Matías Aguirregaray in the World Cup qualifying match against the Chilean selection in the 46th minute of play . His second international appearance was on October 11, 2013. On that day he was substituted on again in the World Cup qualifying match against Ecuador.
Silva was part of the provisional 25-player squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil , but like Sebastián Eguren, was ultimately not considered for the tournament.
