Matías Aguirregaray , full name Matías Aguirregaray Guruceaga , (born April 1, 1989 in Porto Alegre , Brazil ) is a Uruguayan football player .
The Vasquito called Matías Aguirregaray is the son of the former Uruguayan football player (10 international matches from 1995 to 1997) and current coach Óscar Aguirregaray .

He has played for the Peñarol youth team since 2000 and has been on the first team squad since 2008, the year he made his debut in the Primera División . He managed the only goal for Peñarol in the final defeat in the 2007/08 Uruguayan championship against Defensor Sporting Club . In the 2009/10 season he celebrated winning the Uruguayan championship with the Aurinegros . In October 2010 he moved on loan from Peñarol to Terrassa FC , where he did not play a game. In July 2011 it was announced that he was moving back to his home country to join the Montevideo Wanderers , from where he was loaned to US Palermo a month later . In the 2011/12 season he completed twelve games (no goal) in Serie A and one cup game for the Sicilians. In the 2012/13 season he moved to Transylvania to CFR Cluj . There he was used in five Champions League games. On January 13, 2013, Peñarol announced the return of Aguirregaray to the 2013 Clausura . He signed a one and a half year contract. Since his return to the Montevideans, he ran up to the end of the 2012/13 season in seven games (two goals) of the Copa Libertadores and in 14 league games (one goal). At the end of the season, the state championship was won. For the 2013/14 season, his move to Argentina to Estudiantes de La Plata was announced. With the Argentines, he played 34 league games (three goals) as well as four games (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana , nine encounters (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2015 and four games (no goal) in the Copa Argentina . At the end of July 2015, he was loaned to his former employer Peñarol for a season. In the 2015/16 season he was used 30 times in the Primera División, scored five goals and won the national championship with the team. He also played five games (no goal) of the Copa Libertadores 2016 . He then returned to Estudiantes de La Plata. After 23 appearances (six goals) in the league, two (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2016 , five (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2017 and a cup appearance, he left the Argentines and joined Club Tijuana from Mexico in July 2017 on.
National team
U20
Aguirregaray played in the U-20 national team of Uruguay and celebrated there under coach Diego Aguirre on July 31, 2008 at Torneo Ciudad de Trinidad in the game against Paraguay. In total, he was on the field 20 times for this selection and scored two goals. He took part with the U-20 in both the U-20 South American Football Championship 2009 and the U-20 World Cup 2009 in Egypt , where he was used in the group matches against Ghana and Uzbekistan.
Olympic selection (U23)
After Aguirregaray's name was initially part of a provisional pre-selection list announced by national coach Óscar Tabárez on February 14, 2012 , from which the nominees for the Uruguayan team at the Olympic football tournament of the 2012 Olympic Games were to be recruited, he was finally appointed to the final list and took part in the games. In the Olympic selection, in which he made his debut on July 11, 2012, a total of four appearances (no goal) are recorded.
A national team
Aguirregaray made his debut on November 14, 2012 against the Poles in the senior national team. At the beginning of February 2013, he came to a further appearance in the senior national team when Uruguay lost 3-1 in the international friendly against Spain's selection in Qatar. In the World Cup qualifier against Chile, which took place on March 27, 2013 in Santiago, he was the first time in a competitive game for the Celeste on the field. At the end of May 2013, national coach Óscar Tabárez appointed him to the provisional squad for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup . His fourth appearance for the Celeste dated June 23, 2013, when he was in the starting line-up in a duel against Tahiti's selection. After a break of more than 14 months, he completed his fifth international match on September 5, 2014. His last international match for the time being was dated September 8, 2014. He has played six full international matches so far. He has not scored an international goal to date.
