Alessandra Borghese

Alessandra Romana Borghese (born September 25, 1963 in Rome ) is an Italian author and manager .

Life

Alessandra Borghese is the first-born daughter of the Roman nobleman Prince Alessandro Romano Borghese and the Milanese nobleman Fabrizia dei Conti Citterio. Due to a family tradition, she was the eldest of four other siblings to receive her father's first name. First she went to the Chateaubriand elementary school in Rome, later she attended the Roman Catholic modern-language grammar school of the Sacred Heart Sisters.

After graduating from high school , she enrolled at John Cabot University in Rome. There she obtained an economics degree in business administration . She then worked for the American Express credit card company for three years . In the financial analysis department in New York, she mainly observed the European markets.

There she met Konstantinos Niarchos, one of the sons of Stavros Niarchos . The couple married in New York City and divorced after almost two years of marriage. During this time in New York she made friends with Gloria von Thurn und Taxis and her husband Johannes Prinz von Thurn und Taxis . Back in Italy, she was a partner in the marketing company International Affairs .

In 1990 she founded the Centro Culturale Alessandra Borghese in Rome, which hosted public events in the fields of art, cinema and music. At the same time, she had a 17th-century farmhouse owned by her family near Montecatini Terme in Tuscany restored and converted into a tourist center.

On the Assumption of Mary in 1998 she became a believer through a personal experience at a church service in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg . In preparation for the anniversary year 2000, she was appointed Ambassador for Culture and Tourism by Rome's Mayor Francesco Rutelli , during which time she was also a member of the board of directors of the state Agenzia della Moda .

In the Italian parliamentary elections in 2008, she applied unsuccessfully for the Catholic Unione di Centro for a post in the Senate.

Borghese is divorced, has no children and is Lady of Honor and Devotion to the Order of Malta . She bears the title of princess .

Journalistic activities

In 2008, Alessandra Borghese wrote regularly as a Vatican expert for Panorama magazine . She has also published articles in Il Tempo , Gente , Style (a monthly magazine of Corriere della Sera ) . As a journalist, she accompanied the papal entourage on their trips abroad.
