Alex Coke

Alex Coke (born November 13, 1953 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , flutes ).

Coke graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor's degree in jazz in 1976 . In 1982 he presented the rock jazz album New Visions . He worked with Gerald Wilson , Charles Tolliver , James Polk and Jay Rozen. He played with Tina Marsh in the Leadbelly Legacy Band . In 1992 he moved to Amsterdam, since he had been a member of the Willem Breuker Kollektief since 1990 , with whom he toured internationally and recorded various albums. He also worked in the trio of Henk de Jonge and with the Nedly Elstak committed Paradise Regained Orchestra . He returned to North America in 2000, but was a member of the orchestra again between 2011 and 2013. In 2002 he presented the album New Texas Swing under his own name , in which Arjen Gorter and John Betsch were involved alongside Tina Marsh . In 2005 Iraqnophobia followed : Wake Up, Dead Man and with Rich Harney Soul Prayer . In 2008 it's Possible with Marsh and Steve Feld . His various bands include New Visions , the Live Action Brass Band, a duo with Paul Bollenback and the post-bop quintet The Worthy Constituents .

Coke can also be heard with the John Jordan Trio, with Dennis González , with Bernard Hunnekink , the Mysterious Quartet from Helsinki with Chris Duarte and Rob Verdurmens double drummer Bill .
