Rob Verdurmen

Rob Verdurmen (born March 20, 1953 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( drums , composition ), who became known as a member of the Willem Breuker Kollektief .

Verdurmen first took lessons in the music school and then continued his education in workshops with Nedly Elstak and Herman de Wit . In the early 1970s he belonged to the De Boventoon Orchestra and in 1971 received second prize in the sextet of trumpeter Charlie Nanlohy at the Loosdrecht jazz competition. In 1974 Willem Breuker brought him into his collection as a founding member , to which he belonged until it was dissolved. Leo Cuypers hired him to perform his Johnny Rep Suite ( Live in Shaffy ). He was also a member of Henk de Jonge's trio , with whom he also recorded. He also played in the groups of Boy Raaymakers / Maarten van Norden and Arjen Gorter . Since 2001 he has led the octet Drummers Double Bill together with Arend Niks , for which he also composed; the group released their first album in 2003 and toured internationally several times from 2004 onwards. Bo van de Graaf brought him into the rhythm section of his formation I Compani in 2010 , with which Verdurmen recorded two albums.
