Alex Gibson (* before 1983) is a sound engineer .

Life

Gibson began his career in 1983, initially as a film composer for the low-budget production Suburbia - Rebellen der Vorstadt . In 1990 he worked for Luis Mandoki's drama Breakfast at Ihr for the first time as a sound engineer. As a result, he was active in numerous major Hollywood productions , including Natural Born Killers , I, Robot , Mad Max: Fury Road and Terminator Genisys . In 2002 he worked with Christopher Nolan for the first time with Insomnia, followed by six other films under his direction by 2017.

In 2018 he won the Oscar for Best Sound Editing for Nolan's war film Dunkirk together with Richard King . In addition, between 2003 and 2018 he was nominated ten times for the Golden Reel Award of the Motion Picture Sound Editors , which he won twice, for The Dark Knight and Inception . Gibson was rarely active in television. He worked on the series Dinotopia and the miniseries John Adams - Freedom for America . For this he won a Primetime Emmy in 2008 .
