Alexander Borissowitsch Majorow ( Russian Александр Борисович Майоров ; born June 6, 1957 in Gorky , RSFSR ) is a former Soviet Nordic combined .

Career

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 Majorow finished eleventh. Two years later he drew attention to himself at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid when he finished seventh.

On December 29, 1983, he made his debut in the World Cup in Oberwiesenthal . In seventh place, he immediately won his first World Cup points. This placement should remain his best individual result in the World Cup. A week later he finished second with Olexander Proswyrnyn and Ildar Garifullin in the team competition in Nesselwang behind the Finnish relay. In February he took part in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . In the individual competition on the K-90 hill and over fifteen kilometers, he took 14th place. Since the team competitions were not included in the Olympic program, the relay competition as the Nordic World Ski Championships took place in Rovaniemi in March . Together with Olexander Proswyrnyn and Ildar Garifullin, Majorow won the bronze medal. He finished the winter in 20th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

The World Cup season was less successful for Majorow. Nevertheless, he was part of the Soviet team at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld , where he was twelfth in the individual and just missed the podium in the relay as fourth. He ended his career in 1985.
