Alexander Dietrich (born September 4, 1983 in Ravensburg ) is a German engineer and robotics engineer .

Life

After studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich , he did his doctorate there with summa cum laude as a doctoral engineer . His focus is on the control of humanoid lightweight robots such as the Rollin 'Justin service robot . The research activities were initially supervised by the renowned robotics engineer Gerd Hirzinger and later by Alin Albu-Schäffer . For the dissertation, carried out at the Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) , Alexander Dietrich received the 2016 Georges Giralt PhD Award for Europe's best doctoral thesis in robotics. The results were published as a book in the Springer Tracts in Advanced Robotics .

He is Editor of the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), and Associate Editor of IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine, IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, and IEEE ICRA (2016–2018).

Alexander Dietrich is the brother of the German voice actress Kerstin Dietrich .
