Alexander Kaiser (born February 26, 1819 in Graz , † October 25, 1872 ibid) was an Austrian painter and lithographer .

Life

Alexander Kaiser was the second son of the bookbinder Joseph Franz Kaiser , owner of a lithographic institute in Graz. The talented boy was already involved in drawing in his early youth and apparently received his first training as a lithographer in his father's company.

Together with his brother Eduard he later attended the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and afterwards worked mainly as a lithographer of cityscapes . The views of the cities of Brno , Linz , Salzburg and Innsbruck made by him are particularly important . Kaiser also lithographed a number of art sheets based on models by the painters Friedrich Gauermann , Ignaz Raffalt and Nicolas-Marie-Joseph Chapuy , which he had primarily offered through the Paterno art publisher.
