Alexander Lieven

Alexander Lieven (born Alexander Pawlowitsch Lieven ; born September 13, 1919 in Rostock ; † March 30, 1988 in Pebmarsh , Essex ) was a British journalist and secret service employee of Baltic German origin.

Life

His father was Paul Johann von Lieven , his mother Natalie Therese, geb. Baroness von Taube .

Lieven worked for MI6 and the BBC .

In 1960 he came to the BBC as "Russian Program Organizer". From 1964 to 1969 he was deputy to Maurice Latey , chief commentator for BBC External Services . Together they monitored the Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian and Yugoslav areas. On October 14, 1972 he became "Controller" of the BBC European Service .

He was buried in Gunnersbury Cemetery, London .
