Alexander Nikolayevich Bakhtin ( Russian Александр Николаевич Бахтин ; born December 14, jul. / 26. December  1885 greg. In Novgorod , province Novgorod , Russian Empire ; †  23. March 1963 in Moscow , Russian Soviet republic , Soviet Union ) was a Soviet-Russian Lieutenant General .

Life

Alexander Nikolayevich Bakhtin was born in Novgorod and came from the Russian noble family Bakhtin. Bakhtin, who had served in the Imperial Russian Army since 1904 , was promoted to Podporutschik in 1906 and was promoted to staff captain before the start of the First World War . In the First World War he served in the 1st Finnish Rifle Division.

On August 27, 1918, Bakhtin joined the Red Army and took part in the Russian Civil War with the 4th and 7th Rifle Divisions . In the Polish-Soviet War he held various command posts from 1920. In 1922 he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for his service in the civil war .

From 1937 he taught at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR , which he graduated in 1938 himself.

During the Great Patriotic War , in February 1942, he was posted to the Military-Historical Department of the General Staff. In May 1944 he was transferred to the 3rd Ukrainian Front , where he initially acted as deputy commander of the 5th shock army and then as deputy commander of the 46th army. In Operation Jassy-Kishinev , he commanded an amphibious group. a. two Marines - brigades consisted. For this operation, Bakhtin was awarded the Order of Kutuzov II on September 3, 1944 . With the 46th Army he took part in the Vienna Operation , the Prague Operation and the Battle of Budapest . In February 1947 he was released from active service and retired. He died in 1963 and was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.
