Alexander Pagenstecher

Alexander Pagenstecher (born January 6, 1862 in Elberfeld ; † March 13, 1928 ) was a German manor owner and officer. During the Weimar Republic he was involved in Saxony's agricultural policy.

Life

As the son of a doctor, Pagenstecher studied medicine at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . In the winter semester 1881/82 he was active in the Corps Rhenania Tübingen . He was accepted on December 1, 1881. After completing the Physikum in the summer semester of 1883, he moved to the University of Leipzig . On November 5, 1883, he also became a member of the Corps Lusatia Leipzig . From October 1, 1884, he served as a one-year volunteer with the Thuringian Uhlan Regiment No. 6 in Mühlhausen . He later became a reserve officer . In 1885 he gave up studying medicine and switched to agriculture . In 1888 he leased a domain from the Strohwalde Chamber Estate . In 1892 he bought the Steinbach manor . He successfully tested modern methods in agriculture and forestry. For this he received the Order of the Red Eagle. In 1914 he initially served as Rittmeister d. R. on the western front . From 1915 to 1918 he was Major d. R. Chief economic officer at the Army High Command in Serbia. In 1919 he founded the Saxon Landbund in the Reichslandbund . As a member of the German National People's Party , he was elected to the Saxon state parliament in 1920. Re-elected in 1922 and 1926, he resigned on September 27, 1927. He died at the age of 66.
