Alexander Sawwitsch Brodski ( Russian Алекса́ндр Са́ввич Бро́дский , scientific transliteration Aleksandr Savvič Brodskij , internationally often also Alexander Brodsky; born May 9, 1955 in Moscow ) is a Russian architect and artist .

life and work

Brodski was born on May 9, 1955 in Moscow in a family of artists (son of Sawwa Grigoryevich Brodski ). 1968–1969 he was a student at a middle school specializing in art . In 1978 he graduated from the Moscow Architecture Institute . He achieved international fame from the late 1970s onwards through participation in architecture competitions and the publication of architectural designs that were not built. He is considered one of the main representatives of Soviet paper architecture - together with Ilya Utkin , he is the author of numerous utopian architectural designs. After 1991 he emigrated to the USA, where he made numerous drawings and sculptures as an artist . In 1999, however, he returned permanently to Moscow, where he has lived and worked ever since. He has been running his own architecture office in Moscow since 2000 . Because of his imaginative, extraordinary designs, Brodski is considered to be one of the most colorful and well-known contemporary Russian architects.
