Alexander Schottky
Alexander Schottky (born September 27, 1969 ) is a German actor , advertising and voice actor , singer and painter . He gained notoriety in particular through his role as Dr. Pound in Nikola as well as the dubbing of the main character in the video game series Baphomets Curse .
Life
Schottky grew up in Heidenheim an der Brenz and attended the Schiller-Gymnasium there between 1980 and 1988 . Schottky gained his first experience as an actor at the age of nine, including on the stage of the open-air theater in Heidenheim. After graduating from high school, he studied acting, singing and dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In addition to his studies, he tried to become a speaker for regional radio advertising, which was initially difficult for him due to his Swabian dialect. He made his entry into the speaking business through Rudas Studios in Düsseldorf.
Schottky has been working as a freelance actor since 1992 and has since participated in several musical, theater, film and television productions. Between 1997 and 2005 he played the role of Dr. Pound in the television series Nikola . In addition to his numerous jobs as an advertising spokesman (including for Nokia , Nissan and Apple's German customer service ) in the 1990s and 2000s, he also increasingly took on dubbing roles for films and, above all, video games. His voice is particularly known to many players as that of George Stobbart in all five parts of the adventure series Baphomets Fluch (1996, 1997, 2003, 2006 and 2013) as well as the associated fan project Baphomets Fluch 2.5 , for which he spoke free of charge. He was also heard as a Cabana boy in the German version of Monkey Island 3 . Schottky described the collaboration with Norman Matt as formative.
In the late 2000s, Schottky retired from dubbing and moved to Los Angeles to focus more on acting. He has since appeared in several US film, television and theater productions. Schottky released the CD Honestly as a singer and is now also active as a painter. He lives in Oak View, California with his two Chihuahuas, Rico and Fawn.
