Heidenheim Nature Theater
The Heidenheim Natural Theater is an open-air theater in Heidenheim an der Brenz , which has been in the immediate vicinity of Hellenstein Castle since 1924 . The program is aimed at both children and adults. The theater is characterized, among other things, by the fact that all roles are played by amateur actors.
history
The prehistory of the natural theater goes back to the non-commissioned officer Gustav Müller, who decided to found a theater association during the First World War . In 1919 the folk art association was founded, which was entered in the register of associations in 1921 . The opening of the open-air theater at Salamanderbächle took place in 1924. That year Eugen Jaekle became honorary chairman.
During the Second World War , the theater was stopped, and resumed in 1946 with the play The Brave Little Tailor . The tradition of an annual children's play began in 1976 with the robber Hotzenplotz . In 1981 the Shakespeare production Romeo and Juliet was successful . In the same year, differences of opinion led to the split and the open-air theater at Brenzursprung in Königsbronn was founded as an independent stage.
In 1985, Goethe's Faust was a classic, and three years later Anatevka was the first musical to be performed in Heidenheim's natural theater. The old auditorium was demolished in 1995 and replaced by a modern, self-supporting structure with a capacity of 1,068 seats. The 1997 performance of the musical Line 1 is a specialty : The 17 performances did not take place in the natural theater itself, but in Heidenheim's main train station, with the ongoing railway service serving as a real backdrop. In 2006 the association received a new workshop building with an additional rehearsal room, a tailor's shop and enlarged rooms for costume rentals. With over 500 members of all ages, the Naturtheater Heidenheim association is one of the popular associations in the town and the surrounding area. Today's board of directors (2019) consists of Norbert Pfisterer (finance and administration), Bettina Ostermayer (artistic director), Dirk Steffens (stage construction), Tobias Vetter (technology) and Petra Pfisterer (service). The natural theater is financially supported by the city of Heidenheim and the natural theater association founded in 1994 .
