Eugene Jaekle

Eugen Jaekle (born January 6, 1870 in Schwäbisch Hall , † December 7, 1936 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) was a German politician . He was the mayor and honorary citizen of Heidenheim an der Brenz.

Life

Born the son of an innkeeper , Jaekle studied law and political science in Munich and Tübingen after attending the Schwäbisch Hall high school . During his studies in 1889 he became a member of the Cimbria Munich fraternity . After holding positions at various district offices , including as a police officer in Cannstatt , he became city schoolboy in 1903 and mayor in Heidenheim in 1907. In 1921 he was co-founder and chairman of the Württemberg Volksbühne. He was also the founder of the Heidenheimer Volksbücherei and president of the Heidenheimer Singing Club; from 1919 to 1934 he was President of the Swabian Singers' Association . From 1924 he was honorary chairman of the Naturtheater Heidenheim . In 1928 he became an honorary citizen of Heidenheim. There the Eugen-Jaekle-Platz and the Eugen-Jaeckle-Brunnen are named after him. In 1935 he retired.
