Alexander Strehmel (born March 20, 1968 in Hann. Münden ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .
Life
Strehmel, the son of an American soldier stationed in Germany in the 1960s, was a US citizen, but eventually took on German citizenship because he had no regular place at VfB Stuttgart , where he worked from 1986 to Played in 1994, sure had. In addition, the acceptance of the German citizenship enabled him several missions for the German U20 national team. His greatest successes with VfB include winning the German championship in 1991/92 and second place in the UEFA Cup in 1989, as well as promotion to the Bundesliga in 1999 with SpVgg Unterhaching .
He scored nine goals in 214 games in the 1st Bundesliga and five goals in 169 games in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the Regionalliga Süd he came to the second team of VfB Stuttgart to 31 missions in which he scored 1 goal.
Strehmel played in central defense, where he often went on the offensive.
As a trainer
From November 17, 2006 to May 21, 2007, Alexander Strehmel worked as an assistant trainer at Rot-Weiss Essen .
From January 20, 2009 to June 30, 2013 he was assistant coach at VfL Wolfsburg II, and interim coach from January 26 to June 30, 2010. Since 2016 he has maintained the Global Performance Academy in Carter Township near Detroit and works under the German-Canadian Thomas Niendorf for his Pacific Soccer Institute in Victoria , British Columbia .
