Alexander Sundberg (born January 19, 1981 in Copenhagen ) is a former Danish ice hockey player who played for Malmö IF in the Swedish Elitserien during his active time from 1998 to 2011 .
Career
Alexander Sundberg began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of the IC Gentofte , for whose professional team he made his debut in the AL-Bank Ligaen in the 1998/99 season . The following season he moved to league rivals Rungsted Cobras , with whom he immediately won the national cup competition. The winger spent most of the 2000/01 season with the U20 juniors of the Swedish ice hockey club Malmö IF , but also made nine appearances for the club's professional team in the Elitserien , the top Swedish division. After returning to Denmark, he won the Danish championship with the Rungstad Cobras in the 2001/02 season .
In the 2002/03 season Sundberg played again in Sweden, but this time at IF Troja-Ljungby in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . From 2003 to 2005 he was under contract with the Odense Bulldogs in his Danish homeland . He then ran for four years for the Rødovre Mighty Bulls , with whom he won the Danish Cup competition for the second time in his career in 2008. The long-time national player last played for Hvidovre league hockey from 2009 to 2011 before ending his career at the age of 30.
International
For Denmark , Sundberg took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior B World Championship in 1999 , the U20 Junior B World Championship in 1999 and 2000 and the U20 Junior C World Championship in 2001 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championships in 2001 and 2002 as well as at the A World Championships in 2004 , 2007 , 2009 and 2010 .
