Alexander Anatoljewitsch Tropnikow ( Russian Александр Анатольевич Тропников ; born August 1, 1965 in Cherepanowo in Novosibirsk Oblast ) is a former Soviet, later Kyrgyz biathlete . He took part in the Olympic Games twice.

Life

Born Russian Alexander Tropnikow started his active career first for the Soviet Union , then for the Commonwealth of Independent States and later for Kyrgyzstan . At the National Championships of the USSR he appeared for the first time in 1985 with second place in the relay. In 1987 he repeated this success and in 1989 was the only time at the top of the podium. Tropnikow celebrated his greatest international success for the CIS starting at the Biathlon World Championships in 1992 in his home town of Novosibirsk . With Jauhen Redskin , Anatoli Schdanowitsch and Alexander Popow he won the gold medal in the team competition. In 1994 he made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup for Kyrgyzstan as 43rd in an individual in Antholz . In six starts in the 1993/94 season he did not reach any points and was only used again at the beginning of the 1997/98 season . At the sprint in Lillehammer he reached his best place in 25th and won his only World Cup point. He ran his first Winter Olympics in Nagano in 1998 . In the sprint Tropnikow was 65th, in the individual he reached a good 36th place. After only two World Cup starts in 2000 in Khanty-Mansiysk followed in 2002 in Soldier Hollow for a second time two races at the Olympic Games. In the individual he was there 73rd, 77th in the sprint. After the games, he ended his career. He became a sports journalist and worked as an editor for a newspaper in Novosibirsk ( Информагенства “Новосибирск” ), as such he is a member of the Union of Journalists of Russia. He later became the director of the “Energy” sports complex in his hometown of Cherepanovo.
