Alexander James Wähling (born March 30, 1995 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , Spain ) is a former German- English soccer player .

Career

Alexander Wähling started playing football at FC Marbach when he was four years old . From 2001 to 2003 he played in the F-youth of FV Fortuna Kirchfeld . In the following years Wähling ran for FC Neureut . After his talent was discovered, he switched to the C-youth team at Karlsruher SC in 2009 . With this he won the southern German championship and the upper league of the C-Juniors. In the following two years he played for the U-17 team in the U-17 Bundesliga and was the best assist provider in the 2011/12 season. From 2012 to 2014 Wähling played for the A-Juniors of Karlsruher SC in the U-19 Bundesliga . Since July 2014 he has been part of the squad of the second team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the third division . The midfielder made his professional debut on May 2, 2015 when coach Sandro Schwarz replaced him in the 90th minute for Philipp Klement in the third division game against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach (3: 1) . He ended his career in summer 2016 and has been a youth coach at Karlsruher SC since summer 2017.

National team

In 2012 he was appointed to the German national soccer team (U-18 juniors) by Horst Hrubesch , but did not play a game for the DFB.

Life

Wähling has a German father and an English mother. He grew up bilingual with four younger brothers. His brother Nicolas is also active as a professional footballer.
