Alexander Weinmann

Alexander Weinmann (born February 20, 1901 in Vienna ; † October 3, 1987 ibid) was an Austrian music historian , bibliographer and composer .

Live and act

Weinmann was the younger brother of the railway worker, music researcher and collector Ignaz Weinmann (1897–1976). He studied musicology at the University of Vienna and the flute at the Vienna Music Academy . From 1922 to 1961 Weinmann worked as a musician and conductor. In the semester 1954/1955 he resumed his studies in musicology and received his doctorate in Innsbruck in 1955. For many years Weinmann was the country director for Austria of the Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM).
