Alexander Otto Hugo Wladimir Prince of Münster of Derneburg (born September 1, 1858 from Derneburg ; † October 12, 1922 ibid) was a German squire and parliamentarian .

family

Alexander zu Münster is the son of the ambassador and hereditary marshal Georg Herbert Fürst zu Münster von Derneburg (1820–1902) and the Alexandrine Mikhailnovna Princess Galitzin (1823–1884). He is the brother of Sophie Thusnelde Wilhelmine von Beneckendorff and von Hindenburg (1851–1933) and of Ernst Adolf Graf zu Münster Freiherr von Grothaus (1856–1905), the uncle of Wladimir Ernst Graf zu Münster von Derneburg (1886–1954) and the great-uncle of Oswald Graf zu Münster (1917–2003).

From his marriage on June 3, 1890 with the Scottish Lady Muriel Hay (1863-1927), the daughter of George Hay-Drummond, the 12th Earl of Kinnoull and Lady Emily Blanche Charlotte Somerset, from the house of the Dukes of Beaufort , had two sons , Friedrich Graf zu Münster, born in Homburg , Freiherr von Grothaus, on Derneburg, Ledenburg etc. (1891–1942) and Paul William Alexander Graf zu Münster, born in Maresfield Park, Freiherr von Grothaus, on Wasserleonburg ( 1898-1968).

Alexander zu Münster is buried in Derneburg in the family cemetery at the mausoleum of Count Ernst zu Münster .

Life

After attending high school in Ilfeld and Treptow an der Rega he studied at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn Law . In 1878 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn . After graduating as Dr. iur. he became majorate on Derneburg.

From 1904 to 1918 he was a member of the Prussian manor house and held the rank of royal Prussian major à la suite .
