Alexandra Petrovna Buschilowa ( Russian Александра Петровна Бужилова ; born October 8, 1960 in Chisinau ) is a Soviet - Russian archaeologist , anthropologist and university professor .

Life

Buschilowa graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Moscow University (MGU) . She completed her studies in 1987 at the Department of Anthropology with her diploma thesis on naming in the Russian people. She then worked at the Chair of Anthropology.

1989–1992 Buschilowa was an aspirant at the Moscow Institute of Archeology (IA) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and then Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) with Tatiana Ivanovna Alexejewa . In 1993, after defending her dissertation on the possibilities of historical and ecological reconstructions based on data from paleopathology , she received her doctorate as a candidate for archeology. Since 1993 she worked at the IA. In 1994 she was visiting scholar at the University of Bradford with Donald J. Ortner and Keith Manchester. She has been giving special lectures at MGU since 1995 . In 2001, she was her doctoral dissertation for defense on adaptation processes in the population of the old Eastern Europe according to data of the palaeopathology the doctor doctorate in archeology.

In 2008, Buschilova became director of the Research Institute and Museum of Anthropology at MGU and a member of the MGU Science Council. In the same year she was elected a corresponding member and in 2016 a full member of RAN.

Buschilova's research areas are paleoanthropology , paleo- demography , paleoecology and adaptation, human diseases in the past, bio-archaeological reconstruction and archaeogenetics .
