Alexandra Socha (born April 10, 1990 in Nashua, New Hampshire ) is an American actress and musical artist who made her debut in the musical Spring Awakening on Broadway in May 2008 . She also played Nora in the 2009 performance of Brighton Beach Memoirs and Daisy Fenton in the off-Broadway performance of the musical Death Takes a Holiday . She plays a starring role in the coming-of-age - comedy series Red Oaks .

biography

Socha was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire to Joan Storey and Thad Socha. As an only child, she appeared with her parents at various local theater performances. She attended Nashua High South, which she graduated from in 2008. Socha began acting as a child, was a member of the Peacock Players of Nashua and in 2006 played the role of Amneris in the musical Aida . She gained further professional experience at the American Stage Festival and The Lyric Stage. After completing the eleventh grade, Socha made her debut on July 24, 2007 in the Broadway musical Spring Awakening as an understudy for the roles of Wendla, Thea, Anna and Martha, replacing Krysta Rodriguez. On May 20, 2008, she took over the role of Wendla from Lea Michele . Critics of the Daily News and The New York Times praised her acting. She played the role until the end of the 2008 season while completing a home study from Nashua High School . Her next engagement on Broadway began on October 25, 2009 in a short-lived remake of Brighton Beach Memoirs .

From September to October 2010 Socha appeared at the Yale Repertory Theater as Merricat in We Have Always Lived in the Castle , a musical adaptation of the novel by Shirley Jackson . At the Black Box Theater she played the role of Rachel in the play The Dream of the Burning Boy from April 2011 . From July 14th to September 4th 2011 she played the role of Daisy Fenton in Death Takes a Holiday at the Laura Pels Theater.

On November 28, 2011, Socha debuted her solo program Home at Duplex Cabaret in New York City .

From October 17, 2012, Socha played the role of medium Alison in the musical Fun Home at The Public Theater in New York City, but left the ensemble again at the end of November for personal reasons.

On television she could be seen in a supporting role as Mia in the series The Big C , guest appearances in White Collar , A Gifted Man , Made in Jersey , Law & Order: SVU and recurring roles in Damages - Im Netz der Macht and Royal Pains . From 2014 to 2017 she played the lead role of Skye in the Amazon series Red Oaks .
