Alexandru Dincă

Alexandru Dincă (born December 18, 1945 in Bucharest , † April 30, 2012 ) was a Romanian handball player . In the position of goalkeeper he was twice world champion.

Dincă began in 1962 as a junior at Știința Bucharest. He then worked for a short time at Rapid Bucharest and from 1964 at Steaua Bucharest , with whom he won ten national titles. His greatest success at club level was winning the European Cup in 1967/68 with Steaua.

Dincă played 56 international matches for the Romanian national team . At the World Cup in 1967 he was a substitute goalkeeper and won the bronze medal with Romania. With the junior national team he became world champion in the same year. Both at the 1970 World Cup in France and at the 1974 World Cup in the GDR, he was able to win the world title with Romania. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Dincă was third with the Romanian national team.
