Totole Masselier

Alphonse "Alf" "Totole" Masselier (born August 12, 1925 in Paris ; † May 3, 2013 in Villemoisson-sur-Orge , Île-de-France ) was a French jazz and studio musician ( bass , also vocals ) .

Masselier worked in the French jazz scene from the late 1940s a. a. with Claude Bolling , Boris Vian , Hubert Rostaing , Sidney Bechet ( Petite fleur 1952) and with Django Reinhardt ( Jersey Bounce ), whom he accompanied on recordings in Rome in 1950. He also played on the first recordings of Johnny Hallyday for the Disques Vogue label and recorded the chanson Tous les garçons et les filles with Françoise Hardy . Masselier, who died in early May 2013 at the age of 88, was involved in 47 recording sessions in the field of jazz between 1948 and 2000. a. also with Michel Attenoux , Guy Béart , Claude Luter , André Persiani , Baden Powell and Tchan Tchou Vidal .
