Alfio Rapisarda
Alfio Rapisarda (born September 3, 1933 in Zafferana Etnea , Province of Catania , Italy ) is a former diplomat of the Holy See .
Life
The Archbishop of Catania , Guido Luigi Bentivoglio SOC , ordained him as a priest on July 14, 1957 .
Pope . John Paul II appointed him on 22 April 1979. Titular Archbishop of Cannae and the Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia and donated to him on 27 May of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination ; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy and Eduardo Martínez Somalo .
On January 29, 1985, John Paul II called him Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Zaire , on June 2, 1992, as Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, and on October 12, 2002, as Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal.
Pope Benedict XVI on November 8, 2008 accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
