Alfonso Cabezas Aristizábal CM (born December 11, 1943 in Neiva ) is the former bishop of Villavicencio .

Life

Alfonso Cabezas Aristizábal joined the religious order of the Lazarists and was ordained a priest on May 24, 1969 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Cali and titular bishop of Zama Minor on April 22, 1988 . The Archbishop of Cali , Pedro Rubiano Sáenz , gave him episcopal ordination on June 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Samuel Silverio Buitrago Trujillo CM, Archbishop of Popayán , and José Gabriel Calderón Contreras , Bishop of Cartago .

On May 13, 1992, he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Villavicencio. After Gregorio Garavito Jiménez 's SMM retired , he succeeded him on May 3, 1994 as Bishop of Villavicencio.

He resigned from his office on June 19, 2009.
