Alfred Finger (born February 25, 1855 in Vienna ; † April 9, 1936 there ) was an Austrian violinist .

Life

Alfred Finger, born in Vienna in 1855, studied violin with Jakob Dont from 1878 to 1883 and from 1883 to 1884 at the Berlin Music Academy with Josef Kotek and Joseph Joachim , with whom he later became friends. From 1885 to 1895 Alfred Finger was a member of the Winkler Quartet in Vienna, where he also worked as a violin teacher from 1925 and as a professor from 1926 . As a board member of the Neue Tonkünstlerverein he introduced Max Reger to Vienna.

Alfred Finger, who had been married to the violinist Ella Bailetti (1866–1945) since 1893, died in Vienna in 1936 at the age of 81. He was buried in the Upper City Cemetery in Klosterneuburg .
