Alfred Hartlieb von Wallthor

Alfred Freiherr Hartlieb von Wallthor (born January 23, 1921 in Feldkirch ; † July 23, 2011 in Detmold ) was a German historian. He dealt in particular with the history of Westphalia .

Life

Alfred Freiherr Hartlieb von Wallthor studied history, German and philosophy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster after his military service . He completed this course with the state examination and in 1950 with the doctorate to Dr. phil. with Kurt von Raumer .

In 1961 Hartlieb von Wallthor joined the Provincial Institute for Westphalian State and Folk Research , and in 1965 he was made head of the main office. Also in 1961 he was elected a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia . Between 1971 and 1979 he was director of the Association for History and Classical Studies in Westphalia, Department of Münster . In January 1986, Hartlieb was retired by Wallthor.

At the same time as this, Hartlieb von Wallthor held a lectureship on Westphalian regional history at the University of Münster.

From 1979 he was married to the historian Heide Barmeyer-Hartlieb . He was buried in Detmold- Heidenoldendorf .
