Alfred Hein

Alfred Hein (born October 11, 1914 in Königsberg , East Prussia ; † April 18, 1971 in Salzgitter ) was a German politician ( GB / BHE , GDP , CDU ).

Life and work

Hein, who was of Protestant faith, completed a commercial apprenticeship, then did voluntary military service and took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He then worked for the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the "Osteinsatz". At the end of the war he was first taken prisoner by the Soviets; he was later transferred from there to US captivity. After his release from captivity, he worked for the German Federal Railroad , most recently as Federal Railroad Chief Inspector.

Hein, who had joined the GB / BHE, was a council member in Salzgitter and temporarily served as the city's deputy mayor . From 1955 to 1963 and again from 1967 to 1970 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . The state parliament elected him in 1969 as a member of the Federal Assembly , which elected Gustav Heinemann as Federal President . Through the merger of the GB / BHE with the DP , he became a member of the All-German Party (GDP) in 1961. He later transferred to the CDU and was elected deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Salzgitter. He belonged to the German Bundestag from April 27, 1970, when he replaced the deceased MP Alfred Burgemeister , until his death. He was drawn into parliament via the Lower Saxony state list.
