Alfred Neuwald (born January 12, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German comic author , illustrator and cartoonist . He often uses the abbreviation Neufred for his work .

Alfred Neuwald studied graphic design at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences . He has been working as a freelance illustrator since 1989. In addition to his work for advertising agencies and companies, he illustrated numerous comics and children's books , including the Pixi book series Kapitän Sternhagel , some of which have also been translated into other languages. In 2013 he created the comic figure Karl the Little , who is a humorous alternative to the overpowering Emperor Karl . In April 2014 Neuwald took part in the first Comiciade at the Ludwig Forum for International Art in Aachen . In this context, he designed a motif of Karl the Little , which Lake13 realized as graffiti on the wall of a transformer house on Blücherplatz . Charlemagne was also selected as the 2014 Comiciade motif. Neuwald also works as an animation filmmaker .

He has lived and worked in Aachen since 1982.
