Alfred Pichler

Alfred Pichler (born December 18, 1913 in Oštrelj near Bosanski Petrovac , Austria-Hungary , today Bosnia and Herzegovina , † May 17, 1992 in Banja Luka , Bosnia and Herzegovina) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Banja Luka .

Life

Alfred Pichler was born in the village of Oštrelj in what was then Austria-Hungary , now part of the Una-Sana canton . He was ordained a priest on March 13, 1937 .

On July 22, 1959, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Banjaluka . He was ordained bishop by the coadjutor bishop of Zagreb , Franjo Šeper , on October 18, 1959. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Skopje , Smiljan Franjo Čekada , and the Apostolic Administrator of Yugoslavia , Matija Zvekanović .

Pichler took part in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On May 15, 1989, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
