Alfred Swahn

Alfred "Alf" Gomer Albert Swahn (born August 20, 1879 in Uddevalla , † March 16, 1931 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish sports shooter . He won nine medals in four Olympics.

Career

Alfred Swahn won the team gold medal at the Olympic Games in London in 1908 in the “running deer” discipline (single shot). The victorious Swedish team included Arvid Knöppel and Ernst Rosell, his father Oscar Swahn , who also won the individual competition in this discipline.

Four years later in Stockholm Alfred won Swahn, succeeding his father's gold medal in the individual competition of the discipline "Running Deer" (single shot), in the team competition, the two won, together with Åke Lundeberg and Per-Olof Arvidsson , with Oscar Swahn 64 years 257 days to become the oldest Olympic champion to date. In the individual competition "Laufender Hirsch" (double shot), Alfred Swahn took fourth place behind his father and in the Trap team competition , Alfred Swahn and the Swedish team also took fourth place, with 22nd place in the individual competition.

At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 , the Norwegian Otto Olsen won the individual ranking of the discipline “running deer” (single shot) ahead of Alfred Swahn, while the Swedish team with Alfred and Oscar Swahn finished fourth. In the team ranking of the discipline “running deer” (double shot) the Norwegian team won ahead of the Swedish team with Alfred and Oscar Swahn, with Oscar Swahn at 72 years and 279 days the oldest Olympic medalist of all time in a sports competition. Alfred Swahn won another bronze medal with the Swedish trap team in Antwerp.

Four years later in Paris , Oscar Swahn was absent due to illness. Alfred Swahn took sixth place in the individual evaluation of the “running deer” (single shot) discipline, and came second with the team. In the “running stag” discipline (double shot), Alfred Swahn won bronze in both the individual and team rankings. Alfred Swahn achieved fourth place with the Trap team.
