Sven Alfred Thörne (born April 24, 1850 in Horn , Östergötland , Sweden , † March 15, 1916 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish landscape , genre and portrait painter .

Life

Thörne studied painting at the Stockholm Art Academy , where he was a student of Per Daniel Holm . In 1880 he received a royal medal for the painting Sommarmorgon (Summer Morning) . In 1881 he was admitted to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts as agré . With a travel grant that he received in 1884, he traveled through Germany , Belgium , France and Italy . Between 1884 and 1886 he stayed in Düsseldorf to get to know the painting of the Düsseldorf School . He also stayed in Munich . In Sweden he mainly worked as a landscape painter, he also painted genre motifs and portraits. He also earned his living as an art teacher.
