Alfredo Shahanga

Alfredo Shahanga (born April 14, 1965 ) is a former Tanzanian long-distance runner who was particularly successful in marathons .

In 1987 he finished fourth in the Houston Marathon and second in the Vienna Spring Marathon . He won the latter in 1989 in 2:10:29 h as well as the Berlin Marathon , in which he set his personal best of 2:10:11 h. During this time he was managed and trained by Volker Wagner . In 1990 he finished fourth in the Hamburg Marathon and won the 25 km from Berlin in 1:15:09 h.

In 1991 he finished sixth in the London Marathon and started the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo , but did not reach the goal there. In 1993 he was fourth in Berlin for the last time on the front ranks of a major marathon.

Alfredo Shahanga was 1.70 m tall and had a competition weight of 57 kg. His older brother Gidamis Shahanga was also a successful long-distance runner.
