Alfredo del Mazo González

Alfredo Hilario Isidro del Mazo González (born December 31, 1943 in Toluca , State of México ; † January 10, 2019 ) was a Mexican politician of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) and diplomat .

Life

Alfredo del Mazo González, son of the politician Alfredo del Mazo Vélez , joined the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) in 1962 . In the same year he began studying business administration at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and graduated in 1967 with a licentiate. From 1966 to 1972 he was deputy head of the international department and from 1972 to 1973 deputy head of international banking at Banco Comercial Mexicano . From 1973 to 1976 he was General Director of Banco Minero y Mercantil and then, in 1976, briefly Vice-President of the National Commission for Banks and Insurance CNBS (Comision Nacional Bancaria y de Seguros) . In 1977 he became head of the public debt department in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit SHCP ( Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público ) and in 1978 served as director of the national credit institute of this ministry before he was general director of Banco Obrero from 1979 to 1981 .

On September 16, 1981 del Mazo González Jorge Jiménez Cantú from as governor of the state of México and held this office until April 21, 1986, whereupon Alfredo Baranda García succeeded him. He himself was appointed by President Miguel de la Madrid Hurtado on April 21, 1986 to succeed Francisco Labastida Ochoa as Minister for Energy, Mining and Semi-State Industry SEMIP ( Secretario de Energía, Minas e Industria Paraestatal ) in his cabinet and held this ministerial office until when he was replaced by Fernando Hiriart on March 3, 1988.

1988 sparked del Mazo Luis Jesús Weckmann Muñoz as ambassador to Belgium , and was as such until his replacement by Adolfo Enrique Hegewisch Fernández at the same time in 1990 as ambassador to the European Union in Brussels accredited . In 1991 he was the coordinator of the first Ibero America summit , which took place in Guadalajara in July 1991 . In 1995 he succeeded Arturo Núñez Jiménez as General Director of the Institute of the National Foundation for Workers' Housing INFONAVIT (Instituto del Fondo Nacional de la Vivienda para los Trabajadores) and was replaced in this role in 1997 by Óscar Joffre Velázquez .

His son Alfredo del Mazo Maza has been Governor of the State of México since 2017.
