The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald is a science college supported by the Alfried Krupp Kolleg Greifswald Foundation. Both institutions are named after Alfried Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach .

The facility is located in a new building in the old town in the immediate vicinity of St. Nikolai Cathedral and the old campus of the university.

The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald Foundation is the sponsor of the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald . This was established by the University of Greifswald, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation on June 20, 2000 as a foundation under civil law . According to the foundation's own presentation, Berthold Beitz , the chairman of the board of trustees of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, was the initiator of the foundation. The purpose of the college is to promote science, in particular to promote the main research areas of the University of Greifswald, to bring researchers from different disciplines together to work together on key topics, to promote interdisciplinary research projects, to maintain international scientific relationships with a focus on the Baltic Sea region and to provide support of the next generation of scientists.
