Ali Alifei Moustapha

Ali Alifei Moustapha (* 1956 ) is a journalist , politician and diplomat from Chad who has served several times as a minister and has been Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations in New York City since 2017 .

Life

After attending school, Moustapha studied journalism at the International School for Journalists in Yaoundé , which he graduated in 1977. After further training for journalists in Tunis and for press management in Paris , he began his professional career in 1978 as Chief of Staff of the Official Journal in the Secretariat of the Government of Chad before becoming Editor-in-Chief of the National Press Agency in 1984 . He held this position until 2003, briefly serving as State Secretary in the Ministry of National Defense in 1992.

Moustapha, a member of the Patriotic Welfare Movement MPS (Mouvement Patriotique de Salut) of President Idriss Déby , was Minister for Decentralization from 2003 to 2004 and, after a government reshuffle, Minister for Urban Planning and Regional Development in the cabinet of Prime Minister Moussa Faki between 2004 and 2005 .

He then became Vice Mayor of N'Djamena in 2005 and was President Idriss Déby's advisor on international relations between 2008 and 2009, before serving as President of the Supreme Communications Authority from 2010 to 2015. In August 2015 he returned to the government and was initially Minister for Environment and Fisheries in the cabinet of the independent Prime Minister Kalzeubé Pahimi Deubet until February 2016 . In the following government of Prime Minister Albert Pahimi Padacké from the National Collection for Democracy in Chad RNDP-Le Réveil ( Rassemblement national pour la démocratie au Tchad ), he held the post of Communications Minister from February to August 2016.

In 2017 Moustapha was appointed Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations in New York City and presented his letter of accreditation to UN Secretary General António Guterres on January 9, 2017 .

Moustapha is married and has eleven children.
