Alix of Melle

Alix von Melle (born September 1, 1971 in Hamburg ) is the most successful German high-altitude climber with seven eight-thousanders climbed .

Life

Alix von Melle grew up as the third of four children of a vocational school teacher and a businessman in Ahrensburg . After graduating from high school, she studied geography in Hamburg and from the end of 1992 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . For several years she headed the office of the Bavarian State Association of the German Alpine Club . Today she works in the press and public relations department of the Munich Globetrotter branch and lives in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn . Her husband has been the extreme mountaineer Luis Stitzinger since 2011 .

Rockclimbing

Alix von Melle came to mountaineering through ski mountaineering; today she is a specialist instructor in ski mountaineering . In 2001 she was the first German woman to climb the south face ( French route with Slovene and Messner variants ( VI + )) to the Aconcagua ( 6961  m ). The Muztagata ( 7509  m ) followed a year later . In 2004 she was able to climb the Ama Dablam ( 6814  m ) over the southwest ridge (VI) and the Huascaran Norte ( 6652  m ). In 2005 she reached the summit of Mount McKinley ( 6190  m ). Von Melle climbed to the summit of Pik Lenin ( 7134  m ) in 2007.
