Alyaksandr Vladimirovich Karschakewitsch ( Belarusian Аляксандр Уладзіміравіч Каршакевіч , Russian Александр Владимирович Каршакевич / Alexander Vladimirovich Karschakewitsch * 6. April 1959 in Minsk ) is a Belarusian handball coach , who in his playing days for the Soviet national team aground. He is considered to be the inventor of the turner, a special throwing technique in handball.

Karschakewitsch played for the top Soviet club SKA Minsk . With SKA Minsk, the left winger won the Soviet championship in 1981, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990. At European level, he won the European Champion Clubs 'Cup in 1987, 1989 and 1990 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1983 and 1988 . After his successful handball career at SKA Minsk, he last played for regional league club DJK Hürth Gleuel.

Karschakewitsch won the 1979 World Cup with the Soviet junior national team. He then belonged to the squad of the Soviet men's national team . With this he won the world championship in 1982 and the vice world championship in 1990 . At the Olympic Games Karschakewitsch won the gold medal in 1988 and the silver medal in 1980 .

After his career as a player he became a coach.
