backgrounds

Kōji Wada made primarily by singing anime - theme songs and other contributions to the soundtracks a name. The pieces he recorded for the television series Digimon , Digimon 02 and Digimon Tamers were also used for the German dubbing , although the content was rather freely translated and performed by Frank Schindel . With All of My Mind , a full-fledged album by the musician was released for the first time, which also includes some of his works already known from television . The tracks Butter Fly , Seven , target ~ akai shōgeki ~ , Boku wa boku Datte , The Biggest Dreamer and Kaze come from the above three Digimonserien , the song Kimi-iro no mirai (Yume) came in anime Transformers: Car Robots ago . Wada wrote the lyrics for six tracks on the album himself and composed three of them himself; the music was arranged by Cher Watanabe , Michihiko Ohta and Makoto Takō .

Four singles were released from the album: Butter-Fly , Target ~ akai shōgeki ~ , The Biggest Dreamer and Starting Over . The former was a moderate commercial success in Wada's home country, which managed to reach number 47 on the Oricon charts. The song is also considered to be one of the best anime theme themes of all time and was featured in a corresponding list by NHK at number 5.

Music and lyrics

All of My Mind can be assigned to the J-Rock genre throughout . The songs are dominated by melodic electric guitars - riffs and keyboard - or piano sounds as well as powerful drumming ; solos can also be heard frequently . Wada's singing is expressive and alternates between gentle and powerful passages. His texts are poetic and emotional and often use metaphorical imagery to clarify the content. It is often discussed how a glimmer of hope and love can be found even in difficult times and a world that is turning into bad and how one should not give up despite these circumstances and recognize one's own strengths. However, there are also songs that suggest the exact opposite and are characterized by sadness and hopelessness.

Cover design

The cover artwork for All of My Mind is in black and white and shows Wada crouching on the floor while he loosely leans an electric guitar against his shoulder. His fingers hardly touch the instrument. The singer is wearing a leather jacket, boots and jeans and is sitting in front of a uniformly light background. To the right of him there are two black bars with the album title in typewriter in light letters and the name of the musician underneath, each in lower case.
