Kōji Wada

Kōji Wada ( Japanese 和田 光 司 , Wada Kōji ; born January 29, 1974 in Fukuchiyama , Kyoto Prefecture ; † April 3, 2016 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese singer and known for his work on the soundtracks for the Digimon franchise, for the in particular, he wrote theme songs for the first six anime seasons.

Career

Kōji Wada became known with his song "Butterfly" in 1999, which was used as the theme song for the first Digimon series. In addition, he was allowed to prove his singing talent in the following digimon series. He also sang the theme With the Will to the "Digitations" in Digimon Frontier and the 2 credits Innocent - Mujaki na Mama de and an Endless Tale (with AiM).

He also participated in other Digimon songs such as Bokura no Digital World (2nd Digimon series), Yūki o Uketsugu Kodomo-tachi e (a song with all other Digimon singers such as AiM, Ayumi Miyazaki, Michihiko Ōta etc.) and in various Christmas songs. In 2001 he released his first album All of My Mind , which contained some songs from the first three Digimon series.

He also sang the theme song for the series Transformers: Car Robots and together with AiM and Ōta Michihiko Hontō no Tsuyosa and 3 Primary Colors , which appeared on Michihiko Ōta's album Mirai e no Message - Ōta Michihiko Self-Cover .

In the fifth series Digimon Savers , he sang the second opening title Hirari .

In the German area, his songs are implemented by Andy Knote for RTL II and mainly sung by Frank Schindel .

From October 2011 to October 2013, Kōji Wada interrupted his career because of a head and neck tumor , which he had suffered from since 2003 and which was treated with surgery and chemotherapy. In April 2016, he died at the age of 42 from the consequences or complications of the disease.
