All or Nothing is the tenth studio album by the American punk band Pennywise . It was released on May 1, 2012 by Epitaph and is the first after a four-year break, the longest of the band between two albums.

Origin and style

The album was recorded from October 2011 to January 2012 with Cameron Webb in Santa Ana , California . For the first time the new singer Zoltán Téglás can be heard, who also works for Ignite . He replaced Jim Lindberg . In contrast to its predecessor, which was published in the USA on MySpace and only in Europe on Epitaph, the album was now released worldwide on Epitaph. Label boss and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz was impressed by the release. It inspired him to write a quick Bad Religion album like No Control .

“To me it felt like we went back to our roots during the songwriting phase - that means there were a lot of heated discussions among ourselves. This is how our best records used to be made - when we yelled at each other and sometimes even broke things. "

He described the album as "a loud, hard, fast and aggressive punk rock record, so what we do best."

reception

The album was named album of the month in Rock Hard magazine . Reviewer Buffo in particular saw Revolution and Let Us Hear Your Voice inspired by Bad Religion. "Since the rest of the songs are really catchy and Zoli's voice goes well with the music," All Or Nothing "can safely be described as the best Pennywise album since About Time from 1995." Peter Ehmann from undergrounded.de rates the album with 8 out of 10 points and says: "After a singer change Pennywise accomplish what has already gone wrong with many bands. They not only maintain their level, they even increase it."
