Allain Roland Roy (born February 6, 1970 in Campbellton , New Brunswick ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper and inline hockey player .

Career

Allain Roy began his career as an ice hockey player at Harvard University , which he attended from 1988 to 1992, while playing for their ice hockey team in the ECAC Hockey . During this period he was selected in the fourth round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft as the 69th player of the Winnipeg Jets , for which he never played. Instead, the goalkeeper took part with Team Canada in its Olympic preparation from 1992 to 1994. In the 1993/94 season he also made his professional ice hockey debut for Jokerit Helsinki from the Finnish SM-liiga , with which he immediately won the national championship . In the following season he ran for the Saginaw Wheels in the Colonial Hockey League . He last appeared in the 1995/96 season in the Austrian ice hockey league for Kapfenberger SV , where he had a regular place between the posts.

Parallel to his ice hockey career, Roy was active for the St. Louis Vipers from 1994 to 1997 in the professional inline hockey league Roller Hockey International , which, unlike ice hockey, was held in the summer.

International

For Canada , Roy took part in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , where he won the silver medal with his team. As a substitute goalkeeper, he was not used.
