Allen Nathaniel Yancy (* 1881 in Harper , † February 21, 1941 in Nigeria ) was a Liberian politician and Liberian Vice President from 1928 to 1930. Yancy was a key figure in the Fernando Po scandal .

Yancys ancestors lived in the area of Sparta, Hancock County in the US state of Georgia and were Methodist Church at. Depending on the writer, the name spelling used in documents changed to "Yancey / Yancy / Yancie", but always refers to the same family.

The Liberian politician Allen Nathaniel Yancy was born in Harper , Maryland County in 1881 , he was a grandson of Allen Yancy . His father, also named Allen Yancy , was the Reverent of the Methodist Church of Cape Palmas . After attending school, Allen Nathaniel Yancy, only 24 years old, applied for the post of Justice of the Peace in his hometown of Harper in 1905.
Yancy, who was also a direct descendant of the Ameriko-Liberians in the vigilante group, received his military career training with the Liberian Guard and finished this service as a captain . After serving in the military, NA Yancy found a well-paying job in a Liberian branch of the UK trading firm Woodin and Company , a position that Yancy used to build his political career. In 1918 he was first assistant to the later Liberian President Edwin Barclay and moved to the administration of Maryland County. Politically, he was a supporter and politician of the True Whig Party , the Liberian state party. During this time he came into contact with the future President Charles DB King , from 1920 to 1927 Yancy was elected superintendent of Maryland County. During this time he used his position to enrich himself enormously through "private business", he became a key figure in the Fernando Po scandal .
In the presidential elections of 1927 King won through an unprecedented electoral fraud , he appointed the politically relatively inexperienced Yancy as Vice President. Initiated by the defeated presidential candidate of the opposing party, the Fernando Po scandal turned into a state crisis. In December 1930, the King government resigned under pressure from the United States and numerous European governments. Yancy avoided prosecution by moving to Nigeria and died in exile in 1941 .
