Allen Payne

Allen Payne (* 7 July 1968 in New York City as Allen Roberts ) is an American actor .

Life and accomplishments

The African American Payne was surrounded by poverty and criminal gangs during his childhood. That's why his parents, Allen Roberts and Barbara Peeves, took him out of the area at that time and made sure that he learned theater in a youth center, which changed his life.

Initially studied dance, but finally decided on an acting career and made his debut alongside Troy Beyer in the 1989 film drama Roofs of Death . In the thriller New Jack City (1991) he played one of the bigger roles alongside Wesley Snipes and Ice-T . In the drama Jason's Lyric (1994) played the leading role of a man whom his girlfriend Lyric ( Jada Pinkett Smith ) helps to overcome his childhood trauma . This was followed by other larger roles such as in the television-produced war film Die Ehre zuflug from 1995 (alongside Laurence Fishburne and Cuba Gooding junior ) and in the film drama Expensive Than Rubine from 1998 (alongside Renée Zellweger ).

Starring in the 2001 crime film Blue Hill Avenue earned Payne the Black Reel Award and another nomination for the same award in 2002 . He took on one of the leading roles in the sports drama Playas Ball (2003). He later appeared in the television series House of Payne (2006–2012) in a leading role.
